VP Sales and Supply

Key takeaways:

Here at GetYourGuide in 2025, we’re working towards being the go-to provider for travel experiences in the world. And that means building a trusted, highly curated marketplace, powered by innovative thinking and groundbreaking strategy.

Benedikt joined GetYourGuide as VP of Sales and Supply in early 2025. In this blog post, he shares his thoughts on our business priorities, how we’re shaping the way millions of people discover new destinations, and his bold vision for the future of the travel experience industry.

Can you tell us about your journey and what drew you to GetYourGuide?

“My background was in retail until the internet came along. If it hadn’t, I’d probably still be figuring out the perfect shelf placement in supermarkets! But now, instead of selling groceries, I’m selling something much more exciting: unforgettable travel experiences. And I see our product as a great opportunity in the travel market. People will always want experiences, even in their hometown.

When I first heard about GetYourGuide, I was drawn to the idea of Berlin. It’s a city that’s reinvented itself so many times, always moving forward but still respecting its complex past. You can really feel the freedom and creativity in the air — it feels like anything is possible here.

I was also really attracted to the culture here, especially considering some of the hires in the last year with top talent. I wanted to be a part of it!”

What are the key initiatives you and your team will be focusing on?

“My focus for our team is twofold: first, we are creating a curated travel marketplace at scale. Second, we are doubling down on the supplier experience and building a world-class technology platform for experience providers.

Curation is at the heart of our marketplace. We have an opportunity and an obligation to present travelers with unique experiences and tours that are easy to discover and book. We want full trust that every experience we offer is a good one. We’ve already begun work to refine and scale the way we onboard supply partners and inventory at scale, and thanks to AI, we’ve started to roll this out across the organization.

GetYourGuide is so much more than just a technology platform. Experience providers with well-established brands look to GetYourGuide for growth, too, driven by our collaborative one-on-one relationships. For example, we’re working with a major tower that wants to provide restaurant experiences with a set menu. We also have a few special products launching with world-famous cultural institutions this year. So, making sure we prioritize the usability of our supplier-facing portal is crucial.”

What excites you most about the future of travel technology?

“I think one of the beauties of GetYourGuide is that it’s operating in a marketplace that’s still in a young stage. When we talk about activities and experiences, that’s very different from more mature marketplaces in the industry, such as flights and hotels. This means we have much more room to innovate, and a unique opportunity to shape how millions experience the world.

I’m excited about what our investments in technology mean for our experience creators - I think we have an opportunity to be a force of good. I recently connected with independent creators in Bangkok, who credited GetYourGuide for helping them to employ more people, to improve their business, and grow. That’s something I’m extremely passionate about!”

What advice would you offer to someone thinking about joining GetYourGuide?

“First, it’s a high-growth environment, so don’t be afraid to speak up if you have ideas that could make an extraordinary impact! What GetYourGuide has accomplished in the last 15 years is truly impressive, but it’s only the beginning. I think people who join our journey now have the opportunity to really shape the future of the company - and indeed the travel experience sector as a whole.

Second, I think the agility with which GetYourGuide is progressing is super exciting. We’re changing direction where required, but with a very clear vision and a strategic focus at the core. It’s the perfect place for people who are looking for a company that’s no longer a startup, but not a huge corporate environment either, where everything takes ages and goes through 10 layers of management. We’re in the sweet spot of a scaling-up environment, moving fast with the stability of a global corporation.

Lastly, I’m always talking about the people here. It’s truly a global company, with a full diversity of people from as many different backgrounds as you can think of. This is so important because it means that our company is really representative of both our customer and supplier base, and I believe this shines through in everything we do.”

Why is it an exciting time to join the Sales team?

“I’ve always believed our sales teams are the heart of GetYourGuide. We have the incredible opportunity to partner directly with local businesses, help them grow, and share their passion with the world.

It’s an especially exciting time to join us in 2025/2026, because we’re on a journey to become a truly world-class sales organization. We’re investing heavily in training and development and leveraging AI tools to the fullest to empower our teams. There’s so much potential out there, and so many experiences we can still unlock for our travelers.”

What are you looking for in candidates?

“Our ideal candidate isn’t just skilled, but truly passionate. Highly motivated individuals who are eager to learn, obsessed with the supplier experience, and excited by our mission to create a world of unforgettable travel experiences. If you’re ready to grow, innovate, and make a real impact, this is an amazing team to join.”

Which of GetYourGuide’s Guiding Principles resonates with you the most?

“My favorite is ‘we build bridges, not islands’. I love that our Guiding Principles are not just written on the walls — they’re really at the core of how we operate. Building bridges is so important for a team that thrives on big-picture success. We collaborate to innovate, and we work together to get the best results possible for our travelers, suppliers, and candidates.”

Thanks for your insights, Benedikt! We’re thrilled to have you on board.
