What your day-to-day will look like

Want to know how decisions and roadmaps are determined, plus a few tips on how to avoid becoming a ‘report factory’? We asked three employees from different areas of Data Analytics to shed some light on their average day.

Product Data Analytics

Evelyn Desvania, Senior Product Data Analyst

“Mornings usually start with stand-up: checking progress, unblocking each other, pretending we haven’t only just opened our laptops! The rest of the day is mostly spent digging through data and spotting travelers’ behaviour patterns.

In all our work, we’re encouraged to build conviction around our hypotheses by backing them with data. Roadmaps are shaped collaboratively to balance business priorities, past results, and traveler feedback. The analyst’s role is to provide evidence, weigh trade-offs, and redirect the conversation from ‘my intuition says…’ to ‘the experiment shows…’

One thing that really speeds up productivity here is the fact that GetYourGuide invests in automation and self-service tools to enable stakeholders to answer more basic questions. This means that you get to spend your time on the meatier, more nuanced, and, frankly, more interesting problems!”

Supply Data Analytics

Guy Halfon, Senior Supply Data Analyst

“Most days blend focus and collaboration. One minute, you’ll be building metrics and data insights, and the next you’ll be investigating things like customer behavior and marketplace health. There are regular team rituals to stay aligned in between.

GetYourGuide is very data-driven, so analytics is crucial to highlighting areas of opportunity and guiding business strategy. We’re always aware of how our work contributes to overall business objectives while still leaving room to pursue more innovative bets.

It doesn’t feel like you’re a ‘report factory’ for stakeholders because our Business Intelligence platform helps them explore our data and answer most of the day-to-day questions themselves. Your job is to look beyond the numbers and make sure you’re solving the right problems, while collaborating with stakeholders to extract the ’so what?’ from the data.”

Marketing Data Analytics

Nacho Rios, Senior Marketing Data Analyst

“Some days are scheduled for full focus, where you’ll build new models or dig into data. Other days are all about collaboration, and you’ll spend them bouncing ideas off your teammates or presenting insights to spark important conversations.

Decisions and roadmaps are shaped by our overall business strategy and the new insights we uncover in our work. I really appreciate that analysts have a real voice in both areas, so it feels like we’re all building something together!

When asked to produce a report, I find it useful to ask, ‘How will this answer help you make a decision?’. Knowing the intent behind each task helps you solve real problems that impact the business, and not just fulfill requests.”

How to grow and make an impact

Mentorship and feedback

New joiners get a buddy analyst to help them, and there’s a strong culture of learning-by-doing. Senior analysts will share their approaches, review your work, and jump in as thought partners when you’re blocked.

As for making an impact, GetYourGuide hosts all kinds of tech meetups at the office, which are a great way to get involved in the wider industry. In addition, regular ‘geekout’ sessions are a favorite among analysts. It’s a safe space where you can share anything, from technical challenges to wild ideas, to get honest feedback and support from your colleagues.

Working with stakeholders

Product managers, designers, engineers, operations, finance… anyone brave enough to ask: ‘what does the data say?’ Your job is to clarify questions, challenge assumptions, define metrics, and offer results. Analysts challenge each other while keeping a very pragmatic mindset.

Performance and impact evaluation

Leadership here always puts the emphasis on impact, and they don’t micro-manage every step. You’re evaluated on how you adapt to your environment, make decisions, and drive measurable improvements.

What Data Analytics teams do for fun

Regular team events with the mission team and the analytics team. There’s something for everyone, whether it’s joining colleagues for a run through Prenzlauer Berg, bouldering competitions, board game sessions, or playing padel! If you just want to have a beer after work, it’s easy to find people to connect with and have a laugh.

Surprises about GetYourGuide’s culture

Despite the company’s growth, analysts are trusted to take ownership of our domains and lead initiatives alongside senior business stakeholders, often with company-wide impact. It still really feels like a startup, despite its size. Everything moves fast, and everyone here is so approachable, all the way to upper management.

It might also surprise you to see how data-savvy our stakeholders are here compared to other companies. They’ll even challenge you on the details of your code. This has pushed us to grow and deliver better work, and honestly, it’s made the experience much more rewarding.

Why you should work here

“I’ve always felt that GetYourGuide is full of new and emerging opportunities in data analytics. There’s a constant stream of fresh, impactful, and often complex topics to dive into, so things never get boring. What I like most is that you really get to steer your own growth — this is a place where curiosity and initiative are genuinely rewarded.”

Nacho Rios, Senior Marketing Data Analyst

“Analytics sits right at the heart of scaling the business. We shape the product through experimentation, influencing strategy, and uncovering opportunities for long-term growth. Analysts get high exposure and lots of encouragement to branch into areas like machine learning or advanced modelling. In short: we’re not just query monkeys, we’re equal partners in building our product.”

Evelyn Desvania, Senior Product Data Analyst

“We share domains with a lot of autonomy, which means you get to work on a wide mix of problems. Outside day-to-day work, there are quarterly hackdays, the Analytics Guild, and training sessions on everything from statistics and experimentation to AI and storytelling. We also get €1,000 a year (our Personal Growth Budget) to explore new areas; it’s a good nudge to level up.”

Guy Halfon, Senior Supply Data Analyst

Finally, let’s take a look at what makes Data Analytics at GetYourGuide different from other companies.
